Tonight, I present to you proof that we’ve been visited by beings from outer space. Quinn Sullivan (born March 26, 1999) is a child prodigy blues guitarist. Prodigy doesn’t begin to describe him. I think he’s from another planet where the inhabitants just look like their 10 or 12 years old, but in fact are 40 or 50. Sullivan began taking guitar lessons at age three. He first gained national media attention when he appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show at the age of 6. He’s since appeared on the Today show and Oprah and has taken the stage with Buddy Guy and B.B. King, often playing at Guy’s Legends in Chicago. I think after you listen to him play, you’ll agree…he’s an alien.

At first I wasn’t going to pair Quinn with a wine since on the surface, he appears to be only 12. But after I realized he must actually be a very old alien, I figured what the heck. How about a 2009 Siduri Willamette Valley Pinot Noir? The wine is pure garnet in color with vibrant berry and spice on the nose. It’s a sleek Pinot Noir, with a core of cherry and raspberry flavors, accented by hints of cinnamon, vanilla, and candied orange peel that linger nicely. Despite its youth, this is a superb wine. Good thing, because you’ll probably want to drink the whole bottle once you hear Quinn and realize we’ve been invaded by guitar-playing aliens. Enjoy while you can!
Cheers!
